The day started sunny and warm. We chose the steep way up and took our time. We made it to the lookout in two and one-half hours.
While enjoying lunch and the views on the helicopter landing pad, the warden came out to inform us lightening was on its way in an hour or so. So we quickly packed up to get off the ridge.
After about 15 minutes or so, the rain started. It was fairly light and was over in half an hour or so. Then the sun was out again. Luckily we did not see lightening until we were back in our cars. The entire hike including lunch was four and one-half hours.
We went to the Longview hotel on the way home and all enjoyed the food and atmosphere.
Hello to new members Deb W and Jodi.
Note for future hikes: The GPS readings for going up and down the steep way were 9.8km return and 630 metres elevation gain. The longer zig-zag route would add about 1.8km one-way.
