Thu, Aug 20 2009 - Jumping Pound Ridge - South end (View Original Event Details)
|
Great ride, great bunch of guys - Everything turned out great (- even without a carpool)
It was a great evening - the wind that was blowing in Calgary wasn't out there. It was quite calm which made it a lot warmer than we thought it would be. Lots of sweating on the way up. The views were maybe the best I have seen from there as it was not hazy at all like it so often is. The evening light made it quite spectacular. James was the only one who remember a camera though.....
The downhill on the south end, where most people go up, is lots of fun. Quite bumpy, but fast on the upper section, then smooth and faster when you get to the switchbacks.
In between though, there is the super hero section - where Robin did his best flying Superman impersonation. Gotta watch that first turn on to the switchbacks!!! I wonder if there more helmet indentations in the ground there?
I guess the bush there is pretty soft because be cleared that sideways tree and escaped uninjured!
A few other minor spills, but everyone got up smiling though.
Thanks everyone for coming out and Robin for getting this ride happening. If it wasn't for a little mix up, it might not have happened.
