What a trip to Dinosaur Provincial Park!!!

Stunningly surreal landscapes, amazing fossils in the ground, nice sunny days, a great bunch of people, excellent food, a 140kmh windstorm saturday night which also spawned a reported tornado in the area, torn tents, flying plates, airbone pieces of clothing, flying dirt, debris, tree limbs and being sandblasted by flying coals from the fire.

What an adventure!!!!

We couldn't get more excitment than this even if you planned for it! An amazing night and the best bit everyone made out alright including Don who was canoeing down the Red Deer River and got out the nick of time (his canoe nearly got blown away by the wind)

We waited out the storm in Rachael's trailer chatting away and eating the remaining food (Mariane's carrot cake...yummm) which everyone had so kindly brought. Rachael's hot banana boats was just the ticket to warm up with.

As quickly it came, the storm soon died. Next was damage control trying to locate stuff which had blown away. Ben's big plastic wash basin ended up in another tent lot a 100 feet away!

Most of us who had tents, had them wrecked (grrrrr) by the wind or flying treelimbs. (Note to self, the el cheapo graphite tent poles are better in a fierce windstorm than the aluminium poles, they flex, the alum ones bend...) Mariane ended up sharing Rachael's trailer. Leanne and Fernando slept under the stars in the open as it became beautiful again. Ben got his wish to finally sleep in a truck.

A weekend to remember for sure.

Woot!
