The meeting place had us a bit confused as it didn't look like your typical "trailhead". We had the residents of a very quiet residential neighbourhood somewhat concerned for few minutes while we loitered underneath their streetlights like a bunch of teenagers. But sure enough, the book said we started out on a sidewalk between two houses, and we did. Up, up, up the hill we went and then proceeded to zig and zag our way back down diagonally only to have to go back up another hill to meet at "the boulder". This was where the book told us to do some push-ups against the boulder, but for some reason not too many of us did! We did however follow the "obvious trail" along the top of escarpment before Lana took us trail blazing down a less obvious trail through the trees and past some deer to meet the street. After crossing Edgemont Blvd. it was paved bike paths for the rest of the hike. We passed the playground where it was necessary to keep the dogs at least a minimum of 2 meters for the play "apparatus", then Rabbit Rise, a manmade waterfall (no water to be seen), then into the gorge (not a real gorge). This was where we really wanted to turn right to explore what looked like a really cool path (some other time now that I know it exists), but in the interest of time and remaining daylight we followed the directions through a rather normal looking residential area then ending up back by the rabbits. The remainder of the loop was spent commenting on how quickly the sun was going down and how the temperature was going down accordingly...we began making plans for some pub grub (Kilkenny's of course). We found the cars in the dark and parted ways from there. A pretty neat area to explore and an interesting 8 km "urban hike".
