Week 26 ~ SEASON FINALE ~
A capacity crowd of 48 attended tonight’s Dodge Ball finale at St Stephen Junior High School. Excitement filled the air as the final 4 teams were created for the 2009-2010 season. The enthusiasm and intensity were at an all time high as teams battled hard for the right to hoist the Dodge Ball Cup one last time!
Each team played 10 times before being seeded for the playoff rounds. As usual, there was plenty of excitement as teams jockeyed for position throughout the tournament. When the dust settled, FIFA and the Flies found themselves deadlocked at 8-2 however due to FIFA’s winning record against the Flies, they were awarded first place overall. Aim For Franco finished 3rd with a 3-7 record followed by the lowly Victorious Secret squad who managed just a single victory despite having the best name.
In the playoff rounds, FIFA swept the not so Victorious Secret team in 2 straight games while the Flies got by Aim For Franco 2-1. In the medal round, Aim For Franco bounced back from their disappointing semi-final loss to win the bronze in 2 straight against a battered and bruised Victorious Secret squad. In the gold medal series teams exchanged wins to force a tie breaker and determine if it would be Franco or Gerardo who would collect an all-time best 12th gold medal of the season! When it was all said and done, Franco and team FIFA captured the final Dodge ball Cup of the year! Congratulations to all four teams on a great effort tonight, especially Franco who finished with a record breaking 105 points and 12 gold medals on the season!!
Afterwards the majority of us headed over to BP’s where we enjoyed some great conversation, plenty of laughs and even a food fight. Franco & Gerardo who finished 1st and 2nd overall in the standings, performed the ceremonial cutting of the cake in celebration of another fantastically fun season! Thanks so much to everyone for making this event so much fun to be a part of. Have a great summer and we’ll see you again in the fall for season 3!
