What a great night! My first attempt at coordinating ball hockey with the COC was a very enjoyable experience and a ton of fun. 20 enthusiastic COC'ers turned out for an action packed 2 hour hockey marathon as Team Green battled Team Red for the right to hoist the first ever COC Stanley Cup!
There was plenty of great action at both ends of the rink throughout the evening as momentum changed hands several times. Team Green jumped out to an early 3-1 lead mid way through the first period only to have Team Red roar back with about 8 unanswered goals before Green was able to mount a come back eventually tying the game at 11 with just 14 seconds remaining.
In the 3rd and final period, Team Green continued to build on their momentum, scoring almost at will amassing a comfortable lead by the mid way point of the frame. Despite a late surge from the Red squad, Green cruised to an easy 21-14 victory. The COC Stanley Cup was presented immediately following the final buzzer and then teams headed upstairs to the NSD pub for a few drinks and munchies.
