C Level Cirque is a very worthwhile hike. The old mine buildings and mine shafts are interesting in the first km or so. The trail is pretty in the trees with welcome shade today. Saw a variety of flowers, such as strawberry, glacier lilies and clematis.
Near the end of the official trail, there are peek-a-boo views of Lake Minnewanka. Great views of Cascade Mtn and the Cirque, with some lingering snow. We climbed the unofficial trail to the right of the Cirque and had lunch with great views down the Bow Valley. On the way down, we bushwacked to the small pond we could see from the unofficial trail.
Once at the trailhead we decided to continue the fun and hike to Stewart Canyon. We enjoyed the views along Lake Minnewanka and of the Canyon. Sylvain thought he’d like a quick dip in the lake – and even though just putting ones toe in was cold enough, he actually submerged himself briefly. And then it was time for ice cream.
What a fun group, we had lots of laughs. Laura L
