Sun, Aug 7 2005, Mon, Aug 8 2005 - Elbow Lake backpack and Rae Glacier dayhike (View Original Event Details)
|
Sunday morning we left Calgary facing a thick dark cloud covering over the mountains and I was worried about what I might be leading my group into. However, the weather witch worked her magic just as she promised, and as we approached the Highwood Pass area the clouds parted and the sun shone down on us for almost the entire trip.
And what a great trip it was! I feel so blessed to have shared one of my most favorite places with such wonderful people.
It was a special treat for us on Monday to hook up with the day hikers coming through - but we thought it pretty wimpy though that so many dropped off. The weather just could not have been any better for a strenuous hike, it was a great group of friendly people in the 2nd group, and was a special treat for all to watch Kevin snowboard down the glacier.
A comment from one participant: "This could not be more perfect!" I agree that the surroundings are pretty special (at least to me) but it was all of you who made it "perfect."
