It was a lovely sunny day. The staff, all big smiles, worked well as they too experienced their first day of the season. I noticed new carpet in the day lodge. Michele remarked at the amazing range of accents ... Australia was the majority.
We really found it difficult to confirm a 55 cm base. There was a lot of snow making in progress. So much more is needed. Norquay is methodically covering the hill run by run. Conditions are mid season on a few runs off Mystic Express Chair, including that slick glaze on the steepest parts, short sections of ballbearing crunch, some ideal sections ... no rocks or bare spots though. The large majority of runs are yet to open. Hill management know what they are doing and things will be better than ever by Christmas regardless of Mother Nature's cooperation.
For now, conditions for beginners on off Cascade Chair on the front side are excellent.
