It was a winter wonderland on the Sulphur Mountain trail today with snow on the trees and clear blue skies. The trail was packed snow and not icy.
After a warmup with coffee and lunch in the restaurant, we hiked up to the Cosmic Ray station and observation deck. There was a cold wind for this part.
After the free gondola ride down, we went to the Banff Springs Hotel to see the first annual gingerbread-house competition. Entries ranged from "this one must have fallen on the floor" to huge confections made by some of the local restaurants. Found a lovely spot by a window to have a snack and watch the evening glow.
Next we were off to the Santa Claus parade. There were lots of kids of all ages out to see the parade and it was a fun mix of floats, dressed-up characters and of course the big guy himself.
Thank you for joining me for such a fun day and a special thanks to Tom for driving.
