Write Up:
Despite the ominous weather, 16 hardy souls showed up for the trek out to the Mt Lorette area. We ended up with a real decent day weather-wise and the backdrop of high clouds helped us to pick out the birds flying through. The researchers told me they were thrilled to have so many eager and interested participants stop by and they appreciated the assistance of those who helped spot. We thought it very thoughtful of whoever it was that arranged to have 10 eagles pass through within a 10 min period of time :-) while everyone was standing there. Was quite exciting for a while.

When David and I left at 4:30, the tally so far for the day was up to 98 golden eagles and 11 bald eagles.

Troll Falls was running very full! I have never seen so much water flow through there and the area has seen some flooding as well this year.

The final tally for the day:
120 golden eagles
12 bald eagles
1 sharp-shinned hawk
5 rough-legged hawks
1 merlin
3 northern harriers
(and various other raptors)
