It’s hard to believe the end of another successful season of COC dodge ball is just days away! For those who will be unable to attend the special Friday Finale, tonight was the last chance for many enthusiastic COC’ers to lay claim to the most coveted prize in all of COC sports, the Dodge Ball Cup and have their name forever engraved on the infamous, Dodge Ball Wall of Fame! As customary, participants received their team assignment based on the playing card they randomly selected from the deck. Once everyone had checked in, participants divided up into their respective teams, introduced themselves and came up with a team name for the tournament. After a few minutes of team bonding, the names were submitted and the quest for GOLD began with the first of 20 round robin match ups.
Each team played 10 times to determine their seeding for the playoffs. Be Positive lead the way with a solid 7-3 performance while Toodles Poodles followed close behind with a hard fought 6-2-2 result. Meanwhile, In Yo Face Beoch and Grrreen struggled to find victories finishing with 3-5-2 and 2-8-0 records respectively.
In the semi-finals, the curse of finishing first continued as once again a 4th place team (Grrreen) knocked off the tournament favourite eliminating Be Positive from gold medal contention. In other action, the upsets continued as 3rd place In Yo Face Beoch downed 2nd place Toodles Poodles setting up a battle between the underdogs for gold!
In the medal round, Be Positive recovered just in time to squeak out a 2-1 series victory over Toodles Poodles to salvage a bronze while In Yo Face Beoch completed their perfect 4-0 playoff run to capture the gold! Congratulations In Yo Face Beoch on your impressive performance and well deserved Dodge Ball Cup victory tonight!
After the tournament many of us headed over to BP’s for some great conversation, munchies and refreshments. Thanks to all who joined me tonight, it was great fun!
