Write Up:Another great day in the Mountains! We followed the snowshoe trail from the Elk Pass Parking lot as it crisscrossed the open slope of the power-lines to the top of the first hill where we found the unofficial snowshoe trail quite easily. From there it was single file through the trees on an existing path. At one point the group broke off from the path and blazed a new trail up to Blueberry hill. Thanks to Mark for your hard work breaking trail and the others immediately behind him for assisting in the trail blazing effort.
The views at the top were somewhat overcast, but none the less inspiring. Our trip down the hill was fun and some of us ventured off trail and slid down fresh snow where the opportunity arose. For the last section, the entire group chose to descend down the fresh snow of the open pathway below the power-lines. It was not nearly as steep as it looked, and was enjoyed by all.
A few cars chose to meet at the Kananaskis Lodge for warm beverages and I trust this went well and was enjoyable. Unfortunately, my vehicle was having clutch and stick issues, and we returned to the city directly.
See you again in the mountains!
Debbie
