A great mix of regulars, old familiar faces and newbies gathered together tonight for yet another exciting round of COC indoor soccer! The game remained close throughout as the teams were never separated by more than a single goal during the entire 90 minute match. Clayton and Yannick were fantastic in net frustrating many on the field who couldn’t seem to buy a goal at times. It was a nail biter right to the final bizzer and when the dust finally settled Gold had defeated Blue by a slim 6-5 margin. Congratulations to both teams on a very well played, clean match.
Tonight’s "Player of the Game" award was presented immediately following the game to Yannick Gentes, who stood on his head tonight making many outstanding saves and stopping several breakaways to keep his team in it right to the end. Yannick joined the club back in July 2010 and has been a very active member ever since. He enjoys participating in a wide variety of events including dodge ball, kickball, wallyball, cycling, skating and of course soccer. It has been a real pleasure getting to know him over the past year and half. His friendly personality, high level of sportsmanship and passion to compete make him a great addition to the group. Congratulations Yannick on your well deserved award tonight!
After the game, many of us stuck around to enjoy a few refreshments in the soccer centre pub. Thanks to all who joined me, it was a really fun night!
