Season 4 Week 13

Another great group of enthusiastic COC’ers arrived at Vincent Massey Junior High School tonight to compete for the most coveted prize in all of COC sports, the Dodge Ball Cup and vie for the right to have their name forever engraved on the infamous, Dodge Ball Wall of Fame! As customary, participants received their team assignment based on the playing card they randomly selected from the deck. Participants then gathered together with their fellow teammates to introduce themselves and come up with a team name. After a few minutes of bonding, team names were submitted and the quest for GOLD began with the first of 22 round robin match ups.

Each team played 11 times to determine their seeding for the playoffs. Golden Delicious (7-2-2) edged out Ice Ice Baby (7-3-1) for 1st place honours while the Godless Communists stole 3rd place with a late victory which pushed them to 3-7-1 vs Team Turtle’s 3-8-0 result.

In the semi-finals, Team Turtle upset Golden Delicious in their series opener but failed to capitalize and eventually lost 2-1. In other action, Ice Ice Baby made short work of the Godless Communists eliminating them from gold medal contention in 2 straight games.

In the medal round, both series required tie breakers to determine a winner. The Godless Communists defeated Team Turtle to capture the bronze while #1 ranked Golden Delicious persevered to win gold! Congratulations Golden Delicious on your well earned Dodge Ball Cup victory tonight!

After the tournament many of us headed over to BP’s where we enjoyed a great time of food and fellowship. Thanks to all who joined me tonight, it was great fun!
