The 98th edition of COC indoor soccer saw two very determined teams battle it out right to the final buzzer. Goaltenders Brad and Yannick both had strong performances while Blue’s Pat Houston and Gold’s Ben Susser were absolute scoring machines for their respective squads. The game remained close throughout the 100 minute affair and for awhile it appeared Gold had things under control but Blue stormed back late to even things up at 12 before time expired. Congratulations to both teams on a well played, clean match.
Tonight’s "Player of the Game" award was presented immediately following the game to Gillian Wallace, who scored a beautiful goal and assisted on several others. Gillian joined the COC three years ago and has a dabbled in a variety of events including kayaking, kick ball, dodge ball and soccer. She competes hard and always demonstrates great sportsmanship. Her work schedule makes it difficult for her to attend events on a regular basis but when she does it’s always a pleasure to have her. Congratulations Gillian on your well deserved award tonight!
After the game, many of us stuck around to enjoy a few refreshments in the soccer centre pub. Thanks to all who joined me, it was a really fun night!
