Tonight we enjoyed a rare Friday evening of COC indoor soccer at the Subway Soccer Centre. It was a great time as always but unfortunately for the Gold squad, a long night as well. The Blue team turned in a very solid effort and despite Gold’s “never say die” attitude, it wasn’t long before the game was out of reach. I don’t remember the exact final score, but let’s just say Blue managed to hold on for the victory. LOL Congratulations to both teams on demonstrating great sportsmanship and maintaining a fun first attitude throughout.
Tonight’s "Player of the Game" award was presented immediately following the game to Marianne Astle, who played a great game for the Blue squad. She joined the COC just over 3 years ago and selected indoor soccer as her very first event with the club. Since then, she has tried to get out and join us whenever her schedule permits. Marianne is a very friendly individual and skilled soccer player who always demonstrates great sportsmanship. It is a real pleasure having her as part of the group and I look forward to sharing many more exciting events with her in the future. Congratulations Marianne on your well deserved award tonight!
After the game, many of us gathered upstairs in the soccer centre pub for some well deserved refreshments and a little NHL playoff action. Thanks to all who joined me, it was a really fun night!
