What a great day of x-country skiing. The sun was shining, the snow was soft, and the hut bathroom line ups were huge.

After deciding which trail to travel, the members of the skiing clan assembled outside the hut in preparation for their journey. Each clan member possessed a special skill or trait that would prove useful along the journey.

Lana was the first clan member to demonstrate her skill, "knowing her limits." Unfortunately Lana was still dealing with the chest cold that the clan witch doctor could not cure, so she had to turn back to the hut early.

After an hour and a half of skiing, clan members Megan and Kevin expressed their trait of "Dinner first, skiing second." So Megan and Kevin headed back to the hut and into town for a pig roast.

Now we were a group of five. We skied for another 30 minutes and arrived at our lunch destination. Atop a ridge we sat at a picnic table, enjoyed the view, and ate our lunches peacefully. After, we all packed up our gear and prepared for the ski back to the hut unaware of Holly's special trait, "consuming far too many smarties." It only took 15 minutes for the effects of the smarties to kick in. While skiing through a tranquil forest Holly exclaimed, "hey let's go sit on that picnic table!" Well in the summer this would seem like a great idea, but in the month of January there appeared to be three feet of snow piled on top of the picnic table. Flying high on a truck load of sugar, a little snow was not about to stop Holly. Later down the trail Holly's sugar high came to a sudden end. The tragic moment was caught on camera.

Next came clan member Cyndi. Her trait was demonstrated once she took the lead......"speed skier!" Cyndi zipped down the trail like greased lightning stopping only once to take off her skis and walk down a hill. Some of clan members wondered if she was a member of the Icelandic Nordic Clan.....some of the fastest skiers in the world.

Wendy's trait kept us all in positive spirits throughout the journey. "Always Smiling." It seemed no matter how big of a hill to climb Wendy always smiling and kept us going.

Karen proved to be strong and determined throughout the journey. Her trait of "Bravery" came shining through on the last hill of the day. Despite the red coloured sign, Karen charged forward and went down the hill at speeds that she didn't even think of reaching.

In the end we all returned to the hut in one piece. Oh ya we almost forgot about Rob's trait. Well he really didn't have a trait in the first place, but the clan took him along in good sport and as bear bait.
