We lost two right off at the start of the day - their legs still sore from the Friday hike. :( However, the "big sister" continued on despite the loss of her much fitter "younger sister" : ) - and darn proud of it too!
Interesting event #2 was when one of our carpool drivers locked his keys in his vehicle and realized it partway up the trail. We agree with Charles re the hike being nice and a good warm-up for the season - but quick? HA! We arrived close to the summit just as the jackrabbits in the moderate group finished lunch and were already on the return (sigh).
Next interesting event was the fellow with the fully-loaded backpack who passed us on our way up - said he was training for a hike in Alaska for the summer - then passed us on his way up for the second time as we were heading back down. Said he was hiking the trail twice today just for fun. :/ Was a fantastic hike and we're all real proud of those two little puppies! ;)
