Mon, Jan 2 2006 - Douglas Fir Trail (View Original Event Details)
|
Following the mega-waiver-marathon-paperwork session, we got on our way for a fabulous winter hike on the Douglas Fir Trail. This is a great urban hike in all seasons, although includes dangerous icy sections through winter and spring. Hence we were putting ice cleats on - taking ice cleats off - putting ice cleats on - taking ice cleats off (etc). It was a great group out today and enjoyed meeting some new members recently moved here from England. Welcome! We hope that you enjoy your involvement with the Calgary Outdoor Club as much as we do.
A new coffee hut is under construction right by the bridge on the north side parking area and looks like it might be an interesting option for apres-hike coffee stops. For today, we finished off the day at Extreme Bean where a variety of tasty treats were enjoyed by all who joined us. (May we suggest the Wor Won Ton and Split pea soup - yum!)
