There used to be x-c ski and snowshoe trails in the Sawmill area, but they have converted it to all snowshoe trails and added some new ones including one that takes you to the Chester parking lot. We were making good time on the main 5 km loop as the trail was quite compacted, so we explored partway up the trail to Chester.
The day was mainly overcast, with some moments with the sun shining through and some light snow flurries. All in all the weather was good and the trails very peaceful. We only saw a few other groups.
Afterwards, we went to the Peter Lougheed Visitors Centre and had hot chocolate or tea and snacks while enjoying the view.
