A great mix of newbies, regulars and not so regulars gathered together at the Subway Soccer Centre tonight for another exciting edition of COC indoor soccer. Teams exchanged goals a couple of times in the first period before Blue finally pulled ahead 3-2 late in the frame. In the second, Blue continued their solid play while building a comfortable 6-2 lead in the process. Despite a pair of goals and a much stronger performance in the final frame, Gold was unable to close the gap, eventually settling for an 8-4 loss.
Tonight's "Player of the Game" award was presented immediately following the match to Katherine Robinson, who played a great game for the Blue squad. Katherine has been a member of the COC since late 2007 and has been a part of my indoor soccer events since the very beginning. Last year she took some time off to become a new mom but that didn’t keep her away for long and we are thrilled to have her back playing with us again. Her friendly nature, positive attitude and high level of sportsmanship made her an easy choice for tonight’s award. It has been an absolute pleasure sharing so many events with her over the past 5 years and I look forward to many more. Congratulations on your long overdue award Katherine!
After the game, many of us stuck around for a few drinks in the Soccer Centre Pub before heading home. Thanks to all who joined me, it was a really fun evening!
