Season 5 Week 23

Tonight another great group of enthusiastic COC’ers gathered together at St Stephen Junior High School to compete for the most coveted prize in all of COC sports, the Dodge Ball Cup, and vie for the right to have their name forever engraved on the infamous, Dodge Ball Wall of Fame! As customary, participants received their team assignment based on the playing card they randomly selected from the deck. Participants then gathered together with their fellow teammates to introduce themselves and come up with a team name. After a few minutes of bonding, team names were submitted and the quest for GOLD began with the first of 20 round robin match ups.

Each team played 10 times to determine their seeding for the playoffs. Snot Balls lead the way with a solid 7-3 performance followed by the Raging Red Rabbits (5-5), Tidal Waves (4-6) and finally Dodge the Bounty Hunter also at 4-6. A tie breaker was required before awarding Tidal Waves 3rd place.

In the semi-finals, both series required exciting tie breakers to determine the winner. Dodge the Bounty Hunter put up a good fight winning the opening match but Snot Balls proved their number #1 ranking was no fluke as they roared back with 2 straight victories to advance to the gold. In other action, the Raging Red Rabbits outlasted the Tidal Waves to set up a championship final between the top 2 teams.

In the medal round, both series ended quickly as Dodge the Bounty Hunter earned a bronze with a convincing 2-0 victory over the Tidal Waves while top ranked Snot Balls captured the gold with a pair of victories over the Raging Red Rabbits. The win pulled Darwin to within 1 point of both Ian and Jenny for top spot in the overall individual medal standings. Congratulations Snot Balls on your well deserved Dodge Ball Cup victory tonight!
