Season 5 Week 28
Our final Tuesday of the season saw a perfect sized crowd of 32 enthusiastic COC’ers battle it out at St Stephen Junior High School for the most coveted prize in all of COC sports, the Dodge Ball Cup, and a chance to have their name forever engraved on the infamous, Dodge Ball Wall of Fame! As customary, participants received their team assignment based on the playing card they randomly selected from the deck. Participants then gathered together with their fellow teammates to introduce themselves and come up with a team name. After a few minutes of bonding, team names were submitted and the quest for GOLD began with the first of 20 round robin match ups.
Each team played 10 times to determine their seeding for the playoffs. Call My Name dominated the round robin with an impressive 9-1 result, followed by You’re All Fat & Ugly and Gold Members who shared identical 5-5 records, with the tie breaker going to You’re All Fat & Ugly. Last but not least, Just Give Us The F’in Pin looked to be on the right track, earning just a single victory in ten tries.
In the semi-finals, both series ended quickly as the top ranked Call My Name disposed of pin hopefuls Just Give Us the F’in Pin in 2 straight games while You’re All Fat & Ugly swept the Gold Members to earn a spot in the championship final.
In the medal round, both series required exciting tie breakers to determine a winner. Just Give Us the F’in Pin showed signs of life after earning their second victory of the tournament in the series opener but failed to win a third as the Gold Members roared back to steal the bronze, leaving the other guys with, you guessed it, a pin! LOL
In other action, You’re All Fat & Ugly also pulled off an upset in the opening game of their series but much like Just Give Us the F’in Pin, they failed to capitalize, eventually dropping a 2-1 decision to tournament champions Call My Name. Congratulations Call My Name on your well deserved Dodge Ball Cup victory tonight!
