Season 5 Week 29
Tonight a great mix of newcomers and regulars gathered together at St Stephen Junior High School to compete for the most coveted prize in all of COC sports, the Dodge Ball Cup, and vie for the right to have their name forever engraved on the infamous, Dodge Ball Wall of Fame! As customary, participants received their team assignment based on the playing card they randomly selected from the deck. Participants then gathered together with their fellow teammates to introduce themselves and come up with a team name. After a few minutes of bonding, team names were submitted and the quest for GOLD began with the first of 20 round robin match ups.
Each team played 10 times to determine their seeding for the playoffs. The Yellow Bellied Sap Suckers and Money Shot finished with identical 6-3-1 records but first place honours went to Yellow Bellied due to their winning record against Money Shot. Right behind was Dodge or Die at 5-5 and last but not least, Crimson Tide who finished with a character building 1-9 result! lol.
In the semi-finals, top ranked Yellow Belly Sap Suckers made quick work of a poor defenseless Crimson Tide team while Money Shot needed a tie breaker to get by a pesky Dodge or Die squad, setting the stage for a gold medal final between the top two teams.
In the medal round, both series required exciting tie breakers to determine a winner. Crimson Tide stunned Dodge or Die with a victory in the series opener but failed to capitalize, losing the bronze in three games. Meanwhile, in other action, Money Shot edged out the Yellow Bellied Sap Suckers to capture the gold moving Darwin to within 3 points of his arch rival Ian for top spot in the individual standings race. The win also gave a relieved Allyson her first gold of the season! Congratulations Money Shot on your well deserved Dodge Ball Cup victory tonight!
