This was a great hike for this time of year when the chance of hiking snow-free isn't so great further into the mountains. We enjoyed a plesantly warm day, crossed Gorge Creek a few times (water crossing shoes are definitely required), and wondered what it would be like to be at Rose meadows beyond the gorge. We had a potluck lunch at Threepoint Creek Backcountry Campground - what a feast. For anyone wishing to camp there, the campground has four tables (one non-usable), three fire pits (no wood), a bear pole (bring your own rope), a few places to tie up your horse, and an apparently non-usable outhouse (didn't dare to check it out, but other reports from the group were not good). After wining (literally) and dining, we made our way along the Volcano Creek side, passing through meadows, and finishing off with a frantic search for car keys. Lots of laughs and a great group.
