There was much for us to give thanks for on our Pigeon Mountain hike on this Thanksgiving Day. It was chilly for much of the day, but that is very easy to take when the sky is blue, the scenery is awesome and there is nothing to hamper our way or dampen our spirits. A great deal of work has been done to repair damage to the trail which meant we had no trail detours. We ventured here early enough in the season which meant there was hardly any snow or none at all to even worth mentioning it. We easily found the new way to descend the lower summit which meant we were able to incorporate a loop into our route. This new area had amazing scenery which meant we will never go back the way we came again.

We made our way to the first and highest summit first. We enjoyed the views and got some photos but opted for lunch lower down to escape a breeze that had a biting chill to it. After lunch we attacked the steep rocky slope to the second lower summit. This section had a bit of snow cover and thank you to Steve and David for leading the way to this summit. It was a pretty place to be. We captured more memories here then ventured into new territory for our return trip. After crossing the wide open expansive meadow, the trail became very obvious and we followed it down to the Skogan Trail and a few kilometers later we arrived to where we began our day.

Thank you all for joining in on making today such a treat! It was a great way to spend Thanksgiving Monday. Thank you to Mary and Serhiy for driving.

Please come back to view our photos which will be added Tuesday evening.
