When you feel like you are on borrowed time, then seize the day! With a spectacular forecast for mid September in Alberta, we were all happy to seize it in a big way. We got an early start for a day that was not large time-wise but it allowed us to spend one full hour at the summit and thirty minutes to explore West Wind Pass. It was warm from the get-go and lasted the whole way to the high point of 2688 meters. Along the way there were a few rock bands that required very easy scrambling to get up. There were many cairns to mark the way, so the route was easy to follow. Today Windtower and West Wind Pass did not live up to their names. Every now and then there was a slight warm breeze on the summit and these weather conditions made for a fun full hour visit. We were the first to the top and had the summit to ourselves for a short while before a few others began to arrive. On our way down many more were just heading up. Our early started paid off. On our descent, we stopped to check out West Wind Pass for a half hour before hiking the final couple of kilometers back to the trailhead.
Thank you everyone for seizing the day with me! Thank you Erin for helping with the driving.
