Write Up:Our day began cold and damp at the carpool location at Shouldice. As we began to head West, the sun rose over the horizon lighting our Rocky Mountains under their glittering blanket of new fall snow. After crossing the new "bridge" of logs replacing the flood damaged bridge we began the first of a series of uphill climbs that quickly warmed everyone up. We took advantage of the many opportunities to check out the views with the late fall sun shining the entire time. About 1/2 way up the snow began to get deeper causing the team to debate the merits of leaving the snowshoes in the vehicles. The wind was becoming more and more intense as we approached the final big hill. After struggling on for 1/2 of the hill in heavy wind gusts and blowing snow, the decision was made to head back down and find a more sheltered spot for lunch. After lunch we took our group picture (with lots of goofing around), made snow angels and soaked in the sun. On the return trip, several of the team took advantage of the deeper snow along the trail to conduct some time trials for the COC winter Olympics.
