Oh the weather outside was frightful, but inside the soccer centre was delightful as 23 dedicated soccer enthusiasts joined me for a fun filled evening of COC indoor soccer! The score remained close for the majority of the opening frame as teams traded goals several times before Blue scored a pair in the dying minutes to take a 5-3 lead into the break. In the middle frame Blue added to their lead with 2 more unanswered goals to move ahead 7-3 only to see Gold roar back in the 3rd with 5 goals of their own but it wouldn’t be enough as Blue held on to win by a score of 10-8. After the game we headed upstairs to the Soccer Centre Pub for some well deserved beverages and nachos.
Tonight's "Player of the Game" award was presented immediately following the match to Michal Wlodarczyk, who played a very solid match for the Blue squad tonight. Michal joined the club back in 2009 and has attended a wide variety of events including dodge ball, volleyball, ultimate, hiking, ice skating and of course soccer. It has been a little tougher for him to attend lately now that he’s a new dad but he makes every effort to join us when he can and we’re always happy to have him. His friendliness and great sportsmanship have made it a pleasure to get to know him over the past several years and I look forward to sharing many more events with him in the future. Congratulations Michal on your well deserved award tonight.
