Season 6 Week 20

With winter finally drawing to a close, we enjoyed our final Friday night of the season at Vincent Massey School where 26 enthusiastic COC’ers gathered together to once again compete for the most coveted prize in all of COC sports, the Dodge Ball Cup and vie for the right to have their name forever engraved on the infamous, Dodge Ball Wall of Fame! As customary, participants received their team assignment based on the playing card they randomly selected from the deck. Individuals then gathered together with their fellow teammates to introduce themselves and come up with a team name. After a few minutes of team bonding, team names were submitted and the quest for GOLD began with the first of 22 round robin match ups.

Each team played 11 times to determine their seeding for the playoffs. The Mean Green Fighting Machine lead the way with a solid 7-4 performance followed closely by Pot Of Gold (6-5), Balls & Dolls (5-6) and last but not least R.E.D. (Retired and Extremely Dangerous) at 4-7.

In the semi-finals, both series required exciting tie breakers to determine a winner. Top ranked Mean Green Fighting Machine advanced to the gold after narrowly escaping an upset by a never say die R.E.D squad. Meanwhile, in other action, Pot Of Gold got by Balls & Dolls to earn a spot in the championship final.

In the medal round, both series ended quickly as Balls & Dolls salvaged a bronze with a 2-0 sweep of the old timers, ooops I mean R.E.D. while the Mean Green Fighting Machine defended their first place ranking with a convincing win over Pot Of Gold! Congratulations Mean Green Fighting Machine on your well earned Dodge Ball Cup victory tonight and to Mami, who with the victory, moved into 1st place overall in the individual medal standings!
