All days of the sale have the same photo album and write up.
This year was one of the most challenging in my 15 years of hosting charity sales. Snow and cold weather postponed the original dates of May 4 and 5th. With a cool and wet spring the total delay was seven agonizing weeks.
The folks at The Mustard Seed (TMS) were rooting for me the whole while. Greg W. extended every resource at their disposal including tables, posters and awesome signage.
I give much thanks and appreciation for the continued support in feeding the volunteers provided by Coco Brooks (awesome Italian food), Safeway (Sunnyside) and Calgary Coop (Beltline). This year Killkenny Irish Pub of CBP’s joined the cause.
I first made this a COC event in September, 2007. June 2014 represents the twelfth as a COC undertaking. Donations to TMS during that time totaled well in excess of $100,000. I wish to offer the equivalent of a “Hall of Fame” of volunteers that must be acknowledged. To my recollection Roy P. has never missed a sale. So many others have been nearly as consistent. Namely Lori S, Laura L, Sarka, Linda H, Jacques, Cecilia, Connie, Kathleen, Lori, Debra, Christine, Gord, Evelyn, Mary, Anita and Meili. I wish to thank all volunteers, be it a one-time experience or many times over the years.
Be sure to check out the photo album to see some of the fun we have at this “feel good, do good” event. And please mark it on your calendars for next year – it will quickly become one your favorite COC events, too.
