With old man winter still lingering outside we decided to head inside the Subway Soccer Centre this afternoon where we welcomed 4 brand new members to the club! Although the benches were a little shorter than usual and the score a little lower, the action remained fast and furious throughout with plenty of great teamwork and sportsmanship demonstrated by both squads. When the dust finally settled, it was Gold coming out on top by a slim 6-4 margin. Afterwards, many of us headed over to BP's in Riverbend for some well deserved refreshments.
Tonight's "Player of the Game" award was presented immediately following the match to Cuong Dang (Key), who put in a solid effort and scored a big goal for the blue squad midway through the final frame to tie the game at 4. Key joined the club just under a year ago and has enjoyed participating in several sports including ball hockey, dodge ball and of course soccer. He is a very friendly guy who always displays great sportsmanship. It has been a true pleasure getting to know him over the past 12 months and I look forward to sharing many more events with him in the future. Congratulations Key on your well deserved award tonight!
