Season 7 Week 6

A season high 42 participants consisting of eight brand new members, a few first timers and plenty of regulars gathered together at Vincent Massey School tonight to compete for the most coveted prize in all of COC sports, the Dodge Ball Cup and vie for the right to have their name forever engraved on the infamous, Dodge Ball Wall of Fame! As customary, participants received their team assignment based on the playing card they randomly selected from the deck then gathered together with their fellow teammates to introduce themselves and come up with a team name. After a few minutes of bonding, team names were submitted and the quest for GOLD began with the first of 20 round robin match ups.

Each team played 10 times to determine their seeding for the playoffs and when the dust finally settled all 4 teams found themselves separated by just a pair of victories! The Raging Red Balls lead the way with a hard fought 6-4 record while The Whalers and Dodgey Style shared identical 5-5 results. Last but not least, D.U.I. (Dodging Under the Influence), collected 4 wins in 10 tries.

In the semi-finals, The Whalers advanced after a thrilling tie breaker victory over Dodgey Style while top ranked Raging Red Balls wasted little time disposing of 4th place D.U.I. in two straight to earn their spot in the championship final.

In the medal round, both series required exciting tie breakers to determine the winner. D.U.I. sobered up just in time to steal the bronze from Dodgey Style while Raging Red Balls despite winning the series opener, failed to finish off The Whalers and had to settle for silver after suffering a disappointing 2-1 loss. Congratulations to The Whalers on your well earned Dodge Ball Cup victory tonight!
