Write Up:This was such a beautiful day! 3 of us set out from Calgary to hike and scramble Maze Peak. None of us had ever been to this area of the Rockies before and all were amazed at how cool it was to explore a new area. Maze Peak offered up a great ascent. We started the day by trying some lower cliff bands to gain the ridge but these proved to be very loose and feeling we may have trouble higher up, opted to circumvent the cliff bands for the easier albeit loose scree slope to gain the ridge. Once on the ridge, the going was great. A few obstacles to scramble over but nothing too difficult. We made the summit in about 3 hours. On return, we did explore the NW outlier and enjoyed a rest with again, great views of the area. Our return time was about 6 hours. The day's temperature peaked at plus 22 and it was a great day!
Thanks to Olaf and Wil for a great day out!
