Season 7 Finale - Week 16
Our 200th COC dodge ball event and season 7 finale attracted 32 eager participants, each hoping to capture the most coveted prize in all of COC sports, the Dodge Ball Cup and vie for the right to have their name forever engraved on the infamous, Dodge Ball Wall of Fame!
As customary, participants received their team assignment based on the playing card they randomly selected from the deck. Individuals then gathered together with their fellow teammates to introduce themselves and come up with a team name. After a few minutes of team bonding, team names were submitted and the quest for GOLD began with the first of 20 round robin match ups.
Each team played 10 times to determine their seeding for the playoffs. Duck Duane Duck lead the way with an impressive 7-1-2 result followed by Green Power (5-4-1), Red Army (3-6-1) and last but not least, Blue Moon at 3-7.
In the semi-finals, top ranked Duck Duane Duck swept cellar dwellers Blue Moon 2-0 to advance the gold while the Red Army needed a tie breaker victory over Green Power to earn their spot in the championship final.
In the medal round, Blue Moon dropped the opener but quickly recovered with 2 straight victories to steal the bronze from a dazed and confused Green Power squad while Duck Duane Duck completed their perfect 4-0 playoff run with a series sweep over the Red Army to capture the gold the gold. Congratulations Duck Duane Duck on your well earned Dodge Ball Cup victory tonight!

At the conclusion of the medal ceremony we moved right into the season end awards presentation where we recognized several members for their various accomplishments this season. The following is a list of tonight’s recipients :
IRONMAN AWARD Presented to: Miguel and Murray in recognition of their dedication and perfect attendance throughout Season 7. They each attended all 16 events from November 2014 to June 2015.
PINMANSHIP AWARD Presented to: Rob in recognition of his collecting the most participation pins (last place finishes) this season. He ended up on the bottom a total of 7 times (including tonight) but despite his luck, he is a good sport, a great player and lots of fun to be around. Congratulations on your award Rob!
BRONZED GOD AWARD Presented to: Murray in recognition of his collecting the most bronze medals this season. He ended up in the 3rd place a whopping 9 times (including tonight), three more than his closest rival. Congratulations on your award Murray!
SILVER BELL AWARD Presented to: Duane for taking home the most silver medals this season. Duane earned 6 silver medals this season, finishing just one ahead of Kevin. Many thanks to Lois for stepping in to present this one. lol
GOLD STANDARD AWARD Presented to: Gerardo for earning the most gold medals this season. He took home 7 (including tonight) in just 13 events this year! Congratulations on your well deserved award Gerardo!
MOST VALUABLE PLAYER Presented to: Gerardo in recognition of his outstanding play and high level of sportsmanship throughout the season. Gerardo finished first in the overall Medal Standings amassing 62 points and appearing in the gold medal final an impressive 11 times of the 13 events he attended this season! Gerardo has been a regular participant in all 7 COC dodge ball seasons dating back to September 2008 and has never finished outside the top 10 but this is his first MVP award. Congratulations Gerardo!!
THANK YOU! I would like to thank Gerardo for the amazing gift he surprised me with at the conclusion of tonight's award ceremony. As many of you know, Gerardo has supplied us with countless amazing action shots throughout the entire seven year history of this event and tonight he presented me with a gorgeous professionally made book containing a spectacular assortment of some of his finest. I sincerely could not have imagined a more perfect gift and to everyone who signed it, thank you for your encouragement and kind words. They mean a lot!
After the tournament, we made our way over to BP’s to celebrate yet another fantastically fun season of COC Dodge Ball! Once again a gigantic delicious red velvet cake decorated with photos of this season's gold medal teams was enjoyed by all.
