Sat, Dec 12 2015 - XC Ski Skill Builder Lesson + Canmore Christmas Night Market (View Original Event Details)
|
We had a great lesson from Erik from the U of C Outdoor Centre. The morning consisted of some warm-up exercises (including jumping on our skis), diagonal stride, double poling, and downhills. As we were right at Pocaterra we were able to go inside the hut for lunch, before heading out for a small tour in the afternoon. After that it got trickier, with practising turns as we lifted out feet off the snow. We had a few spills, but had great fun and we all learned something. Snow temperature was around -7C all day, so perfect for blue wax.
After the lesson a few of us continued to Canmore via the Smith Dorrien. There we were treated to a free Rocky Mountain car wash. In Canmore we checked out their first annual Christmas Night Market, then had dinner at the Wood.
Nice fog and stunning sunrise in the morning, and more fog on our way back, so got
back to Calgary around 8:30. Thanks, everyone, for a great day out!
