Season 8 Week 6
Another fun group of COC’ers gathered together at Vincent Massey School this evening to compete for the most coveted prize in all of COC sports, the Dodge Ball Cup and vie for the right to have their name forever engraved on the infamous Dodge Ball Wall of Fame! As customary, participants received their team assignment based on the playing card they randomly selected from the deck. Individuals then gathered together with their fellow teammates to introduce themselves and come up with a team name. After a few minutes of bonding, team names were submitted and the quest for GOLD began with the first of 28 round robin match ups.
Each team played 14 times to determine their seeding for the playoffs. Straight Fuego lead the way with an impressive 10-4 record followed by TGID (Thank God Its DodgeBall) at 7-7, Sore Thumbs at 6-8 and last but not least, the Golden Nuggets at 5-9.
In the semi-finals, Sore Thumbs made quick work of TGID to advance to the gold while top seed Straight Fuego required a tie breaker to get past a pesky Golden Nugget squad and earn their spot in the championship final.
In the medal round, TGID wasted little time disposing of the Golden Nuggets to capture the bronze, while Sore Thumbs upset tournament favourite Straight Fuego to steal the gold! Congratulations Sore Thumbs on your well earned Dodge Ball Cup victory tonight!
