Write Up:With over 25 km covered and over 800 meters of elevation gained, we had a long full day of hiking, but oh what a day! The weather! The group of people! The location and the views! Lake Minnewanka and Aylmer Lookout was the perfect destination for this sunny Saturday. The first 8 km were relatively flat before tackling the steep ascent to Aylmer Lookout, but our effort was rewarded with some breathtaking views down onto Lake Minnewanka and the surrounding mountains. On our way down we decided to hike through the campground and directly to the lake, where some took the opportunity to cool off by dipping their feet in the chilly lake before heading back onto the trail for the final 8 km return to the parking lot. What a great start to the May long weekend. Thank you all for sharing the day with me, and thank you Andra and Darlene for driving.
