Write Up:
Despite an unsettled weather forecast the training event went ahead with six of us. Mike gave some of us failing grades the rotten sod but everyone learned a little and laughed at our failures. Mechanical failures were both common and created but were all fixed almost trailside. Almost trailside because we never made it beyond the parking lot. During the initial maintenance and chain replacement, the rain showers came through early. We relocated to a small shelter by the washrooms and each time we thought the shower had passed and considered riding, another shower kept us under cover. Topics we covered in varying degrees included chains, brakes, gears, wheels/spokes/punctures, and even strayed into riding technique a little. As the event concluded, the skies started clearing and despite not following our intended format, the attendees all appreciated their new pearls of wisdom.
