Write Up:This easy hike was one of the first conducted as the club opened,
operating under Covid protocols. With a limit of 6, 5 attended after
one bowed out the night before. At one point there had been a
waitlist of 1. It was a superb late spring day. Fullarton Loop is an
excellent hike for viewing wildflowers and a half dozen species were
evident. I would recommend taking this hike in another 2 weeks, as
there will be many more wildflowers out at that point. Our pace was
moderate to slow, as we took lots of time to enjoy the day and
identify flowers. For other coordinators, the following observations
may be useful on the chance you are considering offerings trips
while Covid continues to be a presence.
Our hike started at 0930. When we were finishing at 1200, the
parking lot was near full and many people were starting hikes. This
seems to be a trend on other hikes I have been on this last 2 weeks,
as things start to open up. Parking lots also fill up faster because
groups, like ours, are not car pooling. I'm certainly giving
consideration to time and place for my future offerings.
