Write Up:
Because our group made quick work of the first part of the hike, through the trees, we decided to move closer to the glacier. We proceeded up the rocky rise of the valley on a clearly marked trail to a ridge of spruce trees, the last island of green, with good views up to the glacier and \ul great\ulnone views back down the way we had come. We had lunch on the island of trees before continuing on the trail as it circled back two hundred feet above the valley past two caves in the sides of the mountains. Although fit hikers might find the hike no more than moderately challenging, all hikers would appreciate the gentle downslope though the trees to the parking lot. We returned quickly as rain began to fall.
