WOW - what a TRIP!!!

I always enjoy my beginner inline skating events. I love the trail - it's flat and safe, although not the most scenic. I also love helping beginners and seeing them progress.

Anyway, tonight was really special to me because I had the opportunity to skate with Shabu. Shabu completely lost his sight at age 17. He is... um... not 17 anymore, but he ice skates, inline skates, hikes, scrambles, x-c skis, downhill skis, kayaks, and I'm sure lots more stuff too. He needs to hold onto someone to skate, and since his wife, Shaida, is a beginner skater, she isn't able to help him, so I did. Shabu and I skated for almost two hours (Shabu holding my arm) and we made a great team! We reached almost my top speed - he's a really good skater! Hills were new to him, so we had fun getting up and coasting down two hills out, and two hills back. Thank you, Shabu and Shaida, for an amazing experience!! I hope to see both of you out for lots of my skating events.
