June 22, 2007 was my very first coordinated event with the COC and I still remember it like it was yesterday. Fast forward 14 years and 999 coordinated events later and I'm sitting atop Moose Mountain enjoying a gorgeous sunset surrounded by some amazing people (most of whom I never would have met if not for the Calgary Outdoor Club). I couldn't have asked for a better way to celebrate such a significant milestone. Thanks to everyone who helped me ring in #1000! It was an unforgettable evening.
On a side note for those who may be unaware, last year's rebuild of the Moose Mountain Fire Lookout has brought an unfortunate end to hikers having access to the very top helipad area. I always enjoyed eating my lunch there while taking in the views and signing the guest book but those days are gone :(
