Write Up:
What a beautiful early-season snowshoe trip! Unfortunately, no one brought snow shoes. The tree boughs were heavily laden with a thick blanket of white that provided a striking contrast of winter wonderland and autumnal gold. The air was misty and the we broke the trail through deep snow, at times up to the thighs. Beneath the convivial surface of the group, a sinister drama unfolded as Val’s latent hostility towards Marcel for a cancelled trip up Temple eeked out with mysterious snowballs and as Marko plotted an ambush of our unsuspecting coordinator for failing to deliver upon promises of hot tea at the top. The top rating for culinary excellence goes to Andrea for her twist on PB&J: cinammon in the jam. Seafoam, the season’s new black and my personal favourite, could be seen on Rod W, Val, and me. All returned safe and sound to the carpool and a hearty group of 8 proceeded to the Kilkenny for drinks, dinner, and discussion about the tragic irony of poverty and crime in an oil-rich city. Thanks to all for a great day! --- Simone
