We went out today in hopes of finding lingering fall colours - ie. larch trees. I guess anyone from Alberta can argue, with significant success, that "white" qualifies as an Alberta fall colour. Well, that's what we got. There were times when it was cold, but for the most part it was a wonderful wonderful early winter hike. This was my first time going past Chester Lake, and what an eye opener - there's lots of great stuff past there! We had more dawdlers than photographers, but we still got a lot of great photos for the day. Sharon survived her first-ever winter hiking experience - yay!! Princess Shelley had a not-very-princesslike moment when she and a few other cleat-challenged folk slid (on their bums) down the steep hill from the hanging valley. Note to tomorrow's group - if you own ice cleats, take them. The snow may be gone by tomorrow, but just in case...

Quote of the day:
Hiker: Is this an in-and-out kind of hike?
Marty: Yes, unless you die up there, in which case it's just an in.

Sorry Robyn, but as of today, Marty has a new nickname: "Tripod".
