What a great winter day out at Lake Louise! After a bit of confusion at carpool we got on our way. The highway was terrific and temps great for outdoor activities. Some of us snowshoed up to Fairview Lookout - what fun and lots of snow up there! Had to take lots of photos of Ramin since he was having soooooo much fun playing in the snow :)

The rest took a leisurely x-country ski around Lake Louise. One person had her ski trip shortened after discovering that the sports store where she recently purchased skis had given her the wrong boots! How does that happen? psssst .... don't shop at that store ;)

We regrouped for lunch - some inside and the rest of us outside. Lake Louise sure could do a LOT more to improve and promote tourism of local day-trippers like us - (hint) more benches to sit around the lake and to change into skates, a warm place to eat lunch, and make the hotel more accessible - we'd probably even do some shopping.

The snow sculpturers were hard at work and I found it fascinating to see how they create those beautiful works of art out of blocks of ice - incredibly they are each completely hand carved! Afterwards, most took a spin for skating out on (the very bumpy) Lake Louise.

All in all a really fun day and worth repeating. One suggestion for other coordinators who might be tempted to post this one: carpool was confusing with the mix of equipment - x-country skis and snowshoes. Might be better to post this as only as a snowshoe/hike & skate next time.
