Here is a long story on a short hike. A story full of romance, ghastly creatures and beautiful scenery. You might think that this is a fairy tale, but except for a few details here and there, it's true.

On a dark and rainy Sunday morning nine club members went out to Fullerton Loop. When we got there, we got out our rain gear and decided to head out. I think that because we were ready and I left my sunglasses in the car, the weather was nice and it didn't rain until the last ten minutes.

Now I know that C.O.C. isn't a singles club but sometimes sparks fly and romance blossoms. "Rose and Ronan" even their names sound perfect together. What a match, you might say that they were destined to meet on this fine spring day. Right from the beginning they got along and even thought they were quiet we all knew that they enjoyed each other's company. I believe that they are planning on many more hikes together and even coming back to Fullerton in the fall, to enjoy the colours. How romantic!

With only a few creek crossings and a little elevation some thought this was a hard core hike and brought out their poles. We did stop to smell the flowers and learn the names of a few, but Rose and Ronan were gung ho to get to the lookout.

On Ranger Ridge we thought that maybe the lookout bench was gone, but I promised them it wasn't and they thought that maybe the lookout bench was back at the car - but I knew there had to be one, because the picture was in the book!

We finally made it to the lookout and after a few pictures and a quick snack it was time for a lesson. "Now class pay attention, ticks are something that we should all be careful of, why? Because they are ugly vampire sucking creatures that like warm moist places and will insert their mouth parts into the skin and draw blood." "Class where are your warm moist places?"

All in all though a great morning with great people and two wonderful dogs, Rose and Ronan.
