A day in the mountains does not get any better that today's hike. We drove to the starting point just across from the Kananaskis lakes where the scenery was already great and the weather was perfect. Once we all geared up, we crossed the creek and away we went. The trail was very steep and the pace was moderate at the beginning. Seema then led the group at a faster pace, and eventually we all met where the ridge starts. After a few minutes, we started walking along the ridge and suddenly we came across a large group of mountain goats. They were so happy enjoying a little "siesta" that they did not bother moving when we approached them. We were looking at the goats, the goats were looking at us and time was standing still. We then got closer and closer to them. It was almost a stand-off, the goats versus the hikers. Luckily they moved and we could continue our hike towards the top.

The 360 degree views at the top were magnificent! We took pictures, had lunch and even a well deserved nap right there. Afterwards, the real fun began. We had to come down the ridge through a very steep hill with different types of scree and to do some light bushwhacking in order to reach the canyon below. There was a decent-size creek running through the narrow canyon and to find the trail we had to cross the creek several times. The water was cold but everybody was having fun and the whole experience was a blast.

Under Marcel's excellent guidance, a terrific group of hikers spent an awesome day in K-country.
