We were able to get a fairly early start, which was a blessing as the day was very hot (30.5 degrees when we got back to the parking lot). We covered 13.3 kms in just over 4 hours, with two breaks along the way. The climb up to the viewpoint included many ups and downs, so the actual climb was close to 360 metres. It was partially shaded along the trail but with the warm conditions and the undulations, we were getting a good workout. We arrived at the meadow just past the Moose mountain road after about 1.5 hours, and were rewarded with a great view and a wonderful breeze to cool us off. We proceeded down the hill, crossed Highway 66 and began the Riverview portion of the hike. After close to an hour, we reached the river where a few took advantage of the cool waters. We followed the river a little further, then turned up to cross the Highway and return via the Elbow Valley trail. We were back at the cars by 1:30 pm, and back to Calgary by 2:30. Most agreeed it was a good hike, but glad that, especially with the heat, it was a fairly short one. Thanks to all who joined in the hike and to those who helped navigate our way out of the campground.
